Thank you to those of you who were able to come and see Santa at the open house. It was a lot of fun.  I missed those who were not able to make it and I saved their gifts for them when they come back Jan  3rd and 4th.

Merry Christmas and have a happy new year🎄

Just reminding you that there is NO School this week.  Have a wonderful thanksgiving🍗

Saturday, November 5, 2016

As I go thru each week and type in my thoughts in what the kids have learned I feel like I'm starting to repeat myself too much so I'm thinking I won't post as much. A lot of teaching is repetitious learning.  We have a new sight word besides "look" and that is "the". We have
learned 3 more shapes; hexagon, octagon and parellagram. We are still learning our alphabet songs that go with each letter, identifying letters and their sounds, we are learning about rhyming words and just finished learning what opposites are.  I keep them on their toes in the classroom and in general they are making sweet friendships.  In the next several weeks the kids will be making pumpkin pies and the fun part is giving them the whip cream spray cans!

Advice:  make sure your child knows how to write his/her name
Write down the alphabet on pieces of paper and mix the papers up. Ask your child to tell you the letter, it's sound and a word that starts with that letter.

🎃such a wonderful week of preschool!  The children are settling in with the routine and structure. They repeat the pledge of allegiance each day they come. They take turns praying and are so sweet and quiet. They sing their letters they have learned since the first day of school (phonic song),  and each week we have learned a new letter the children have also learned a song that goes with it.

This weeks letter "E" was fun as we read books like, "the ear book", " the elephants birthday party" and the song, "one elephant went out to play - out on a spiders web one day.  Each child took home an elephant for their fingers to fit through along with a spider to remind them of the song.

Each class was introduced to "opposites". The children helped with a few of the opposite words like back/front, tall/short, long hair/short hair, etc.  we even took a balloon outside demonstrating light/heavy ( 5 lb weights).  Please work on spelling your names. I still have children who really struggle with that.

The 4-5 year olds are working hard on their sight words. Please be sure to help them at home and remember to keep their reading books you will be getting in your envelopes this month.  It will help them review all summer long so they will be prepared for kindergarten .

For our Halloween party I have Halloween buckets for each child to take home.  If you would bring 13 wrapped treats or surprises on our scheduled Halloween party day we will fill those buckets pretty well.  We will be playing games so please dress your child up in his/her costumes that will be safe to run around in and use the restroom at preschool.

Look forward to another great week. See you all then🎃

This past week was so much fun.  On Monday and Tuesday the children painted their dinosaurs, completed their "d" worksheets and Wednesday and Thursday we made our "D" clouds for each child to take home and hang up on a wall.  Also, some of the kids chose to make Halloween cats with stickers.  They were very proud of their fine work.

The 4-5 year olds practiced counting to 100.  They love trying to do this a lot!  We will have a new sight word and book to hand out next week.  Be sure you are helping your child memorize at home their sight words.  I am so proud of the children who have them memorized. It will be easier for them to move ahead each time They get a new word.  We have learned a few shapes (circle, square, triangle, oval, rectangle). I will be adding a new shape this coming week. Make sure your child is practicing writing their name.  If you need a worksheet with their name printed in dots on it I will be happy to copy one for you.

The 3-4 year olds are still learning to share and be kind to each other.  They are learning how to count to 10 and know a few of the shapes(circle, square, triangle) I will add more once they learn these shapes really good. i am so proud of each one of them. Their little personalities are really showing who they are.  They are so fun to be around!

Both classes played games and sang "hey diddle, diddle". I read some "d" books and the children really enjoyed them.

Please remember there will be NO SCHOOL this week (October 3,4, 5 and 6) See you next week and have a great potato harvest!  For those who have not paid please pay on October 10 or 11th.After which you will have a late charge of $10.00.  Thanks.

PS. I noticed I made an error on the dates....the above information is correct now.

Friday, September 23, 2016

This week the children learned about the letter"B".  The 4-5 year olds read the four sight words we learned last week in a book I made up for the children.  They will bring this book home next week to read to you.  You will be getting 15 of these books during the school year.  Find time every night to have them read these books to you and please keep these books  in a safe place so that during the summer you can have them to review and help them remember their sight words.

For all my classes this week we learned many words that start with b.  You can check their work assignments in their backpacks.  The pledge of allegiance is coming along better for each class.  We sang and learned a song called"bluebird".  We played bingo and the match game, finding matching b pictures.  They love this game. It teaches them even more b words.  We played games with the parachute and they laughed very hard.

Sharing is a struggle for a few of the children, but that is part of preschool - learning how to be kind and saying sorry.  I apologize if I come across stern, but when a child hurts another I address it and I don't sugar coat it.  I want each child that comes to feel save and loved when they are at preschool. Loved by their peers and loved by me.

The children made their "B" clouds and I sure hope you are helping your child hang them up and say their letters and sounds every night before going to bed.

No school during Spud harvest is October 3,4,5,6 & 7.  if you can pay me on or before before the 1rst - that will be great!  You all have the Manila payment envelopes. Please return them each month to put your payment in.

The children should be writing their names by now so if you need a practice sheet, please let me know.  The spud harvest break is a good time to work on this.

This coming week we will be working on the letter"C".  They will be doing cat clouds on Wednesday and Thursday.  Make sure you remember that show and tell is every Wednesday and Thursday, depending when your child comes to preschool.

Friday, September 16, 2016

This week in class the children learned the letter "A-a".  Each parent took home his/her child's picture-airplane.  We made our alligator cloud for you to hang up behind the airplane on your child's wall, or wherever is convenient.  Each Wednesday/Thursday you will get another cloud with a letter that we learned that particular week.  Make sure every night you tuck your child into bed you have him/her tell you the letter and then the sound it makes.

We are learning the pledge of allegiance,  writing our names, writing the letter.  "A", counting to 10 (most of the 4-5 yr olds count to twenty), the shapes; circle, square, and triangle.  We played games such as bingo,  concentration (matching pics that start with "a") London bridge,  putting our right and left foot in game, played with the parachute, learned our "A" song (apple tree) and the phonic sound.

This week I introduced our first four sight words to the 4-5 yr old class. I will be giving you the sight words on cards (4-5) yr olds in your payment envelopes in October.  You can put those cards on your fridge and help your child memorize them as I send them out to you each month.

Make sure you help your child remember that show-n-tell is every Wednesday or Thursday, depending on what day your child comes.  Thank you so much for the wonderful treats you have brought thus far- the children have loved it!  Please check on the bottom of your calender to see when your child is scheduled to bring treats and if you miss your day just bring treats the next time.

There were six birthdays this month and still several more left.  If I ever miss a birthday please let me know. I have gone over my lists with a fine tooth comb but sometimes it can happen.  I love to send each child a card and have a giant cupcake birthday cake for them.

Can I just tell you that I am so blessed. I love each one of your beautiful children. Thank you so much for the privilege you give me each day to teach and be around such wonderful little people.

What a great first day for each of  the classes I teach.  The children are ready to learn and grow.  It amazes me how you can put children in a class and how fast they giggle together and bond.  Even my 3-4 year olds were enjoying each other's company.  I am so excited to get to know each one better and watch they're little eyes open up as they understand what they are being taught. What a privilege this is for me. Thank you so much.

Next week we will get started with the letter "a".  Please remember that Wednesday's and Thursday's it is show and tell. Bring only 1 item.

Have a great weekend

Classes are full with 11 children in each class for fall 2016-17.  I spend most of the summer copying, cutting, purchasing, painting, cleaning, ordering, organizing, dreaming and creating of what needs to be accomplished before the little children come.  I'm just about ready!

I sent everyone letters last week explaining the criteria.  For any of the new students coming There is an open house on August 29 at 10:00.  Please just come to my back door...the preschool door and be sure to park on the road - not my driveway (for the safety of the children).

     Class 1 -  8:45-10:45
     Class 2 - 11:00-1:00
     Class 3 -  9:45-11:45

We are heading into our last week of school...just to let you know that Wednesday and Thursday I have asked a professional painter to come and paint your child's face into whatever animal they want.  On Monday and Tuesday's classes hopefully the rain will subside each child will have a play squirt gun so we can have a fun water fight.  Don't worry about clothes and what to wear.  Let's just plan on getting a little wet! We will be making chocolate chip cookies too.  (It's on the children's bucket list)!

My classes are completely full for next fall. If you want to be put on a waiting list please call and leave a message (your name, phone number, the name and age of your child). Thank you so much

Our 4-5 year olds graduation turned out really nice.  The children did very well and enjoyed saying their parts and singing.  I can't believe another preschool year has almost come to an end.  It has been 19 wonderful years of teaching and still love these little ones so much! My classes are full for next fall and I'm excited to teach again and see the younger aged children come back.

There will be no school may 16  and 17th(Monday/tuesday). I will see you Wednesday and thursday. There will be only one more week of school therafter.

Thank you to all of you for your support and having wonderful children.   Happy graduation to all those that will be moving on.  I will remember you forever. Thank you for touching my life.

                          2 openings left in my 3-4 Monday-Wednesday class. 11:00-1:00
                          5 openings left in my 4-5 Tuesday-Thursday class. 9:45-11:45
                           No openings Full 4-5 Tuesday-Thursday class 12:00-2:00

I am only going to have 11 students in my classes next fall. Classes will begin after Labor Day in September 2016-17.  Information packet will be sent to you this summer giving you information about birthdays, calendars, payments, along with an open house invitation.  Thank you so much .

Now, as far as school is going...the children are recognizing their sounds, letters, shapes, colors, .....even the pentagon shape.  We counted to 100 (4-5) and the (3-4) ages counted to 20.  We have been learning about rhyming words, days of the week and months of the year.  Also breaking words apart and seeing how many syllables there are in the word...they love it.  The 4-5 yr old classes are doing much better with their sight words.  Also the 3-4 yr olds are pretty close to writing their names...just need a little more confidence, but we're working on it!

Because we did the letter r this week I felt it would not right to have them act out "little red riding hood".  They loved it so much I told them if we have enough time we could do it again next time they come
